Information We Collect And How We Use It

When we need to collect personally identifiable information from you to provide you with a particular service, we will ask you to voluntarily supply us with the information we need. For example, if you would like us to supply you with one or more of our products, we will ask you for information such as name, address, telephone number, email address, credit card number,  product preference to process your purchase. The same types of information would be requested to complete a gift certificate purchase, register for an Algaeron promotion, or enter a sweepstakes or online game. For example, if we know your name and postal address, we may use a third party to provide us with your email address. We would then use this information for market analysis and marketing purposes.

Collecting And Using Personal Information

By "personal information" we mean information that is unique to an individual, such as a name, address, or telephone number. From time to time, we may request personal information from you at our site in order to give you access to requested content, respond to your questions, or deliver a product or service. Different elements of this information are used by us to validate your purchase and to facilitate your interaction with our customer service representatives.

Creating A Personal Account

At your choice, you may create a personal account containing information such as your name, address, email address. Creating a personal account makes it more convenient for you by eliminating the need to repeatedly enter personal preference information.  It will allow us to inform you about special offers and promotions that may be of interest to you.  In addition, if you choose, you can include your credit card information in your account.  Your credit card information will be used for subsequent purchases and eliminate the need for you to repeatedly enter your credit card information.  The security of this information is addressed in security section below.

Updating Your Personal Account Information

You can access and review, update, or deactivate your personal account information online.  If you deactivate your personal account and are an Algaeron member, all information not already required and stored as a condition of membership will be deleted.
Please note that Algaeron will never send you email requesting your password, credit card number or social security/ID number. If you receive an email that looks like it's from Algaeron, but asks you for your credit card number or social security/ID number, it's a fraudulent email, or "phish." We recommend that you delete the email.
If you believe "phishers" have gotten access to your personal or financial information, we recommend that you also do the following:
•    Change your password.
•    Contact credit reporting services and have a fraud alert attached to your credit report file. Please be aware that the perpetrator may attempt to use your information to establish accounts or obtain credit at other businesses in their name.

Algaeron Member Communications And Use Of Member Information

Communications of relevant information is important to administering the Algaeron Member program and providing you the opportunity to maximize the benefits of membership. We will only disclose member information to:

Sea Extracts Ltd, person(s) authorized by you; Algaeron distributors, fulfillment houses, email service providers and mail houses that process mail for such entities; and marketing companies that provide services to the Sea Extracts and affiliates; in each case for the following purposes:

1) in order to better service your account and preferences by keeping you informed of your account status and activities through printed or electronic statements;

2) to assess your entitlement to benefits;

3) to collect and process charges incurred by you;

4) to offer you additional products and services;

5) to send periodic satisfaction or market research surveys;

6) to offer you products or services from select reputable companies with whom Sea Extracts has a strategic relationship because we believe their offerings will be of interest to you.

When choosing to become an Algaeron member, you will have consented to receive all of the kinds of information described above. However, you will be given the opportunity to define and modify your mailing preferences.

Securing The Transmission And Storage Of Information

We treat the information you provide to us as confidential information; it is, accordingly, subject to our company's security procedures and policies regarding protection and use of confidential information. When we ask you for credit card data, it is transferred over a Secured Sockets Layer (SSL) line, provided you are using a SSL enabled browser such as Microsoft Internet Explorer. We also use SSL on other pages where you would enter personally identifiable information. This ensures that your information is encrypted as it travels over the Internet. This secure mode is enabled before any such information is transmitted from your computer. You will know you are in secure mode when the padlock or key icon in the lower right-hand or left-hand corner of the computer screen appears in the locked position.  In addition, when accessing a secure server, the first characters of the site address will change from "http" to "https."
After information reaches Sea Extraccts, it is stored on a secure server that resides behind firewalls designed to block unauthorized access from outside of Sea Extracts.  Because laws applicable to personal information vary by country, our business operations may put in place additional measures that vary depending on the applicable legal requirements.  Information collected on the websites covered by this privacy statement is generally processed and stored in the United States.

Disclosure Of Information To Third Parties

In addition to the required information sharing described directly above, Sea Extracts may use the services of third parties, such as market researchers, fulfillment houses, email service providers and mail houses that process mail for Sea Extracts, persons authorized by you, and Algaeron franchisees as well as such entities and marketing companies that provide these services for Sea Extracts. These parties are contractually prohibited from using personally identifiable information for any purpose other than for the purpose Sea Extracts specifies. We do provide non-personally identifiable information to certain service providers for their use on an aggregated basis for the purpose of performing their contractual obligations to us. Except as described in this paragraph and the sections above titled “Algaeron Member Communications and Use of Member Information” we do not permit the sale or transfer of personally identifiable information to entities outside of the Sea Extracts family of companies and our third party service providers for any non-Sea Extracts use without your approval.

Cookies

Our website uses "cookie" technology. "Cookies" are encrypted strings of text that a website stores on a user's computer. Our website requires the use of a Cookie throughout the online purchasing process. Without Cookies we will not be able to keep information you enter on multiple pages together. For example, unless Algaeron.com can remember the products you put in your shopping bag, we will not be able to check out your purchase. Cookies also enable us to customize our website and offerings to your needs and provide you with a better online experience on Algaeron.com. In addition, Cookies are used to:

Emails About Special Offers And Promotions And Opt-Out

It is our intention to only send you email communications that will be useful to you and that you want to receive. When you create a personal account, join Algaeron members, purchase a product, we will periodically contact you via email and provide information about special offers and promotions that may be of interest to you. These communications will relate to Algaeron offers which may also include the promotions of select, reputable third parties with whom Algaeron has a strategic marketing relationship because they offer products or services that we believe would be of interest to you. We typically use third party email service providers to send emails. These service providers are contractually prohibited from using your email address for any purpose other than to send Algaeron related email.

We provide you the ability to define and modify your mailing preferences online at anytime including unsubscribing from all marketing communications.  In addition, every time you receive an email, you will be provided the choice to opt-out of future emails by following the instructions provided in the email.  You may also opt-out online by updating your personal account, emailing Customer Service, or sending a letter to Customer Service <ADDRESSS>. Please allow 10 business days for us to process your opt-out.

Legal Issues

This is a United Kingdom website and is subject to laws of England. Sea Extracts will disclose personally identifiable information without your permission when required by law, or in good faith belief that such action is necessary to investigate or protect against harmful activities to Algaeron guests, visitors, associates, or property (including this site), or to others. As mentioned previously, laws related to personally identifiable information vary by country.

If you are a customer who resides in the State of California, you have the right to request from Sea Extracts a list of third parties with whom we shared personally identifiable information about you for their own direct marketing purposes during the previous calendar year.
